At Manston Airport we understand the importance of working with and contributing to our local community. In 2011 we are proud to be involved in the following partnerships:
RAF Spitfire & Hurricane Memorial Museum
The Battle of Britain Memorial Museum is located within the grounds of the Airport. The museum is home to two fine examples of the legendary Spitfire and Hurricane fighter aircraft. There are hundreds of artefacts to be viewed with particular displays relating to the Dambusters and the Channel Dash. The Battle of Britain Tapestry and the Allied Aircrew Memorial can also be seen and an Allied Forces Memorial Garden has been opened.
Interesting Facts:
- Many personal photographs and letters from war years
- Battle of Britain Tapestry - unique in the country
- Many of the artefacts showing different facets of life during the Battle of Britain
- Part of the collection is dedicated to the Channel Dash, which took off from Manston
