Proposal to Establish Transponder Mandatory Airspace in the vicinity of Thanet Offshore Windfarm and London Array
Manston Airport (MSE) completed its airspace change consultation for the proposal to establish Transponder Mandatory Zones (TMZ) in the vicinity of the Thanet Offshore Windfarm and London Array on 8 November 2010. The proposed TMZs form a critical element of the suite of proposed measures to mitigate the adverse impact on these Windfarms on MSE's air traffic service. The Sponsor Consultation Document can be found here.
In the period from the close of the consultation, it has been necessary to undertake an analysis of the consultation responses and complete technical works associated with this proposed change.
The final report on the stakeholder feedback to the Sponsor Consultation is available to dowload here.
We are pleased to announce that the analysis has revealed that there is no impediment to MSE to submit a formal application to the UK CAA for the establishment of the revised airspace arrangements. This submission will be made in April 2011 and technical works will continue to achieve operational handover in Nov/Dec 2011.
