Security Information
Security is always a top priority at Manston, Kent's International Airport. On-site security measures are regularly monitored, and the airport complies with the stringent security standards set by the UK Department for Transport and the EU.
Passenger screening
All departing passengers are subject to security screening prior to entering the departure lounge and boarding their aircraft. Manston Airport reminds passengers that sharp items, such as nail clippers, scissors, pocket knives and metal nail files, should not be packed in hand luggage. Please ensure any items of this nature are packed in your checked (hold) luggage. Detection of these items at screening points will require you to surrender them to be destroyed.
Please ensure you do not carry any flammable liquids, gases, or other dangerous goods with you or in your bags. Those items will also be removed by security staff when detected. If you are unsure what you can pack, please see the following pages:
Laptop computers must be removed from bags and screened separately.
Checked (hold) luggage is also subject to screening. Please contact your airline for further information about what can and cannot be taken on board, either in hand luggage or in your hold luggage.
Pick up / drop off
For security reasons, there is no pick up or drop off zone at the front of the terminal building. However you may park in the car park directly opposite the front of the terminal building to pick up or drop off friends and relatives. Manston Airport offers 15 minutes free parking in the car park for pick up and drop off.
Unattended baggage
Baggage must never be left unattended in public areas. Any unattended baggage will be treated as suspicious. We recommend that all baggage should be clearly labelled with your name and contact details.
Security-related threats
Passengers and airport visitors are warned that all threats and comments made about carrying of weapons or explosives - whether intended as a joke or not - will be taken seriously and may result in refusal of carriage onto the flight.
Laptops & Electrical Items
Laptop computers and other large electrical items must be removed from bags at the passenger security screening point and screened separately.
Essential Medical Equipment
Passengers are permitted to carry medical equipment essential for use during the duration of their trip through the passenger security screening point.
Where possible, the equipment should be contained within one item of hand luggage, and should be accompanied by supporting documentation from your doctor.
