White Cliffs

White Cliffs

Known throughout the world, the iconic White Cliffs are internationally recognised, so much so they were recently voted Britain's most popular stretch of coastline. They have witnessed much action and invasions throughout centuries - the historic Dunkirk evacuation was even planned from within them. Today they provide a welcome sight to the millions of visitors who visit White Cliffs Country.

Explore and discover our unrivalled countryside. Feel the wind in your hair - there is a wealth of opportunities to walk and cycle from our long distance footpaths to routes developed as part of the National Cycle Network. Our wonderful chalk grassland is described as "Europe's equivalent of a tropical rain forest" and attracts internationally important habitat to the area.

Sandwich

The ancient town of Sandwich has some of the best-preserved medieval houses in Great Britain.  Step back in time and experience traditions that have remained unchanged throughout centuries - they still ring the curfew bell from St Peter's Church every evening at 8pm!

Enjoy the tranquility of the quayside and take a sedate walk along the leafy riverside. Feeling  energetic - follow the Historic town trail and learn more about Sandwich's rich heritage.

Discover the many fine shops and quality restaurants. Enjoy a Sandwich in Sandwich! Wander  around the historic streets and visit one of the many tearooms for afternoon tea.

Deal

Many agree that Deal is a special place and the prettiest seaside town in Kent. Henry VIII liked it so much he built three castles here.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the unspoilt promenade and the newly restored Pier. Walk a little further and tell the time maritime style at the Timeball Tower. Try the wonderful restaurants and pubs where you can enjoy free, locally caught fish. Step back in time and explore the maze of narrow streets and alleys where smugglers would try and evade King George's men. Shop in style and pick up something special, in one of the friendly small specialist shops which can rival the Brighton Lanes.
